First Flight Of Intending Pilgrims Leaves For Madinah

The first flight carrying 251 of Brunei Darussalam's intending haj pilgrims departed the country at 3 in the afternoon yesterday. The flight to the holy city of Madinah is expected to take almost 10 hours. Relatives and friends crowded the Brunei International Airport to bid farewell, arriving as early as eleven in the morning.
The first Haj flight using the Royal Brunei Aircraft BI4201 also included Haj Medical officers, officers of Syarikat Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad, Syarikat At-Taqwa Travel Tours Sendirian Berhad and Syarikat Raudah Al-Amin Sendirian Berhad. 182 intending pilgrims comprising 82 male and 99 females using the first flight are under the Darussalam Holding Sendirian Berhad. While those taking the Syarikat At-Taqwa Travel Tours Sendirian Berhad package consists of 31 intending pilgrims - 12 male and 19 female. Meanwhile, 30 pilgrims comprising 14 male and 16 female are undertaking the Syarikat Raudah Al-Amin Sendirian Berhad package. Doa Selamat was read by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran bin Haji Kunchang.
Present to bid farewell at the departure terminal was Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and wife.
Also in attendance were Dato Seri Paduka Awang Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Minister of Finance; Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam, the Commissioner of Police; Awang Hussain Mohammed Da'jaani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam; Awang Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary for Law and Welfare at the Prime Minister's Office; Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Awang Haji Abdul Manap bin Othman, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health.
The flight is scheduled to reach the holy city at about 7:40 in the evening Saudi Arabia time or 12:40 in the morning Brunei time. The second Haj Flight is scheduled to depart tomorrow at 10 in the evening.
