His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning made an unscheduled visit to the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute's Study Block and the Female Student's Hostel in Jalan Ong Sum Ping.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam viewed the rooms in the hostel, accommodating the 144 female students studying at the secondary level and those undertaking the Aliyah Qiraat Diploma. Students enrolled in the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute are those who have passed a series of tests including reading and memorising the Quran. The institute provides separate hostels for male and female students.

Earlier, His Majesty made a visit to the Female Student's Study Block that provides 6 classes for academic and Al-Quran studies, a library, a science room and staff room. The MABIMS Al-Quran Studies and Propagation Centre is also located at the said block.

Among the aspects that were given due attention by His Majesty during the visit were matters that involved the student's welfare and well-being. The study block started to be used in 2002.

Since its establishment in 1993, the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute has produced numerous huffaz or those who have completely memorised the Quran. The institute also underwent numerous developments, including the implementation of the Al-Quran memorisation studies and the 'Aliyah Qiraat Diploma, aimed at producing Huffaz specialised in the teachings of Al-Quran.

His Majesty then proceeded to a closed Muzakarah or Short Talk session with the institute's principal, teaching staff as well as students. Throughout the visit, His Majesty was accompanied by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Awang Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, and Pengiran Haji Amiruddin bin Pengiran Haji Damit, the Institute's Acting Principal.

The Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute was established by the consent of His Majesty in conjunction of His Majesty's 46th birthday celebration. Since its establishment to-date, the institute has produced 150 male and 130 female huffaz.
