By the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Darussalam will celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha on the 22nd of August 2018. The announcement on the sighting of the new moon of Zulhijjah for the year 1439 Hijrah corresponding to 2018 was broadcast over Radio and Television Brunei earlier yesterday evening.

The delegation assigned to sight the new moon of Zulhijah comprising of Shari'ah Court Judges, Officers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the State Mufti Department with the cooperation of Officers from the Survey Department failed to sight the new moon late yesterday afternoon. The officers were assigned at several vantage points. During the Aidil Adha or Feast of Sacrifice, Muslims who have the means are encouraged to perform the Qurban or Sacrifice starting after the Sunnat Hari Raya Aidil Adha prayer and the Tashriq days on the 11th, 12th and 13th of Zulhijjah.
