'Malay Language, Our Language' is the theme of this year's Language Month. The theme specifically emphasises to the people of Brunei Darussalam especially the new generation that the country has its own language which the Malay Language as stated in the 1959 Brunei Constitution.

In conjunction with the Language Month, the Language and Literature Bureau, yesterday morning held a reading of the surah Yassin, Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran at Balai Sarmayuda, Language and Literature Bureau in Berakas. The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. Also present was Awang Haji Amer Hamzah bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Zakaria, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
