​At Istana Nurul Iman, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced the Hari Raya Aidil Adha celebration this morning. At the ceremony, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri presented the sacrificial meats to special recipients.

Upon arrival, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri were greeted by the Co-Chairmen and members of the working committee for the Rites of Sacrifice for His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam as well as His Majesty's family and the Hari Raya Aidiladha Celebration at Istana Nurul Iman for this year.

Also in attendance were His Majesty's children, brothers and sisters,

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi'atul 'Adawiyyah;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel;

- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah;

And Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah.

Also present were, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Noor Ehsani as well other members of the royal family.

The Hari Raya Takbir praising and glorifying the Greatness and Oneness of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala resounded at Istana Nurul Iman shortly after the arrival of His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri.  The Hari Raya Takbir was presented by officers and staff of Government Departments, Religious Teachers, students of Institutes of Higher Learning and members of associations.

The holy verses of Al-Quran, surah Al-Baqarah was read by Awang Mohd Auni Marzuqi bin Haji Anuar, a student of the Aliyah Qiraat Diploma from Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute, who represented the country at the 11th Edition of Mohammed the Sixth International Award of Psalmody of the Holy Quran in Casablanca, Morocco, among other matters stressed on the practise of always remembering Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala with the tahmid, supplications, tahlil, tasbih and istighfar which should be increased and empowered by muslims during the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration and Tasyrik days.

Glorifying the Aidiladha celebration is one of the prominent Islamic eminence which contains within it teachings from the sacrifice and patience of Prophet Ibrahim 'Alaihissalam and Prophet Ismail 'Alaihissalam in obeying the commands of Allah which is an extraordinary manifestation of faith that should be exemplified. The success of Prophet Ibrahim 'Alaihissalam and Prophet Ismail 'Alaihissalam in going through the test of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala is a blessing that contains teachings and rewards for muslims.

His Majesty then presented the sacrificial meat to 50 special male recipients and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri presented the sacrificial meat to fifty special female recipients comprising the poor and destitute from the four districts. The Korban Sunnat or commendable sacrifice performed every year by His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri and the Royal Family reflects Their Majesties generosity to the less fortunate people.

The Rites of Sacrifice is Sunat Muakkadah or Commendable religious deed that is almost obligatory for those who can afford it, training muslims to instil care and attention as well as a humanitarian attitude amongst themselves especially for the poor and destitute. It also provides the opportunity to share their fortune and joy aside from alleviating the burden of the less fortunate.

The Hari Raya Aidil Adha celebration at Istana Nurul Iman is another of His Majesty's visions in exemplifying the importance of raising the Islamic eminence and religious assimilation according to the Bruneian mould. It is a manifestation of being grateful for the blessings of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala in allowing the country's people to live in peace, mutual understanding and upholding the relation between the monarch and his subjects. As a result, the country is blessed with the fortune to develop it, enhancing the quality of life through various initiatives and welfare programmes for the well-being of the people.

The doa selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

Some 6 thousand people attended to together enliven the Hari Raya Aidil Adha celebration at Istana Nurul Iman, comprising ministries, government departments, uniformed personnel, higher education institutions and students of religious schools, youth groups and associations.

The presence of His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri at the ceremony clearly shows how the beloved monarch gives serious due attention towards the people's welfare and also portrays His Majesty's care in together enlivening the Hari Raya Aidil Adha celebration.
