His Royal Highness Conferred Convocation Ceremony

Yesterday afternoon, His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office as Pro-Chancellor of University Brunei Darussalam, conferred degrees and diplomas to seven hundred and thirty six (736) UBD graduates. The ceremony was conducted at the Chancellor Hall of UBD.
The ceremony began with the recital of Al-Fatihah led by Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.
Upon arrival at the Chancellor Hall, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah Bin Haji Sulaiman, the Minister of Education and Datin Doctor Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz, the Vice-Chancellor of UBD.
His Royal Highness then conferred the degrees and diplomas to the graduates.
The 355 graduates who received Master's Degrees majored in disciplines such as Management, Economics, Business Administration, Logistics, Islamic Finance, Arts, Science and Education. University Brunei Darussalam has undergone a massive transformation which among other things makes the UBD more comprehensive and contributory towards the university's aspiration to be among the world's top universities.
Meanwhile, 366 graduates received Bachelor of Science degrees in Geology, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science. Eight graduates were conferred Advanced Diplomas in Health Science and seven others received Health Science and Education Diplomas.
Another of the UBD's accomplishments is the establishment of cooperation with Korea University, one of the most prestigious universities in the Republic of Korea. The cooperation is one of the UBD's strategic initiatives to enhance the level and ecosystem of research at the university. The evident with the conferment of the 1st UBD and Korea University Dual Degree in Biodiversity.
In the area of learning, the UBD is actively studying existing programmes to suit the current needs. This is done through Quality Assurance.
The Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.
It the hope of University Brunei Darussalam that the graduates would further their knowledge and adapt themselves so that they are competitive or relevant befitting their knowledge and skills while at the same time contributing to religion and the nation. This is in line with the UBD motto, "Ke Arah Kesempurnaan Insan" or "Towards Human Excellence".
