EBL Sports Event Sdn Bhd has sent an official letter seeking endorsement for Brunei's Beruang Blazers' participation in the Yuwang EBL League following revelation that the team has yet to obtain any endorsement from the Brunei Basketball Association for the semi-professional basketball league that will tip off in August this year.

The move to resolve the misunderstanding was confirmed by Chin Tzin Shien, Managing Director of EBL Sports Event.

In a written interview, Chin said "After analysing the scenario we admit that it was indeed our oversight and mistake that have caused the misunderstanding."

"We have written to the BBA to express our apology and explain our willingness to cooperate and conduct proper channels and procedures required. In the letter we also seek the approval and endorsement for the Beruang Blazers to take part in the EBL."

Meanwhile, speaking about Brunei's maiden participation in the EBL League, Chin said "It's actually great news to us. Although initially EBL's goal was to promote the sport of basketball in East Malaysia, but with the participation of team from Brunei, it will help boost the sport in the Borneo region. We have always wanted to see that happen - EBL as a platform for higher level basketball competition. We expect to see more teams joining us in future."

Beruang Blazers has yet to finalise its starting line up to prepare for the league.

When asked about the preparation, Chin said "Although the time is short, we are positive that the Beruang Blazers would be on board on time, and hopefully we can get favourable reply from the BBA as soon as possible."
