SEMPORNA

The Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) and Dayak communities celebrated the district-level Harvest and Gawai Dayak 2016 celebrations at Siew Fook Hall here over the weekend

Guest of honour Datuk Chow Yian San, who is also the chairman of Siew Fook Association, graced the event that started at noon.

The event was organized by the KDM and Dayak communities residing in Semporna, and chaired by district police chief Superintendent Peter anak Umbuas.

There are many KDM and Dayak people living in Semporna, and could not go back to their home towns due to work. Therefore, with the celebration they were not left out in celebrating the festival which is very important to them.

The celebration, which was held for the first time with full custom and tradition, also aimed to let the other communities celebrate the occasion together.

Also present were district officer Dr Chaco Bulah, department heads, foreign tourists and the public.
