His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah expressed the hope for Brunei Darussalam to collaborate with Malaysia in the field of agriculture. His Majesty added that a multitude of measures and efforts can be used as examples in Malaysia's efforts to generate the economy specifically in agriculture and Brunei Darussalam which is currently exploring towards self-sufficiency in agriculture, hoped for cooperation from Malaysia. His Majesty made the titah at the Official Luncheon at Istana Nurul Iman in honour of Yang Amat Berhormat, Tun Dato Laila Utama Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, the Prime Minister of Malaysia and wife's official visit to the country. The Prime Minister of Malaysia's Official visit began with a morning excursion at the Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas in the capital this morning. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam took the morning excursion with the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.
Upon arrival His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Mohd Isham Bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health, and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
His Majesty then welcomed Yang Amat Berhormat the Prime Minister of Malaysia and delegation. Also present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Second Minister of Finance as Minister-in-Attendance.
His Majesty and Yang Amat Berhormat signed the memorial plaque to commemorate the Official visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to the country. Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas is one of the projects under the 10th National Development Plan headed by His Royal Highness the crown Prince as the Chairman of the National Development Plan, NDP Executive Committee.
His Majesty and Yang Amat Berhormat then commemorated the visit with the watering of a Garcinia Subelliptica tree also known as a "HAPPINESS" tree which signifies the longstanding friendly relations between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia.
The 9 hectare Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas has changed the Bandar Seri Begawan landscape into one that is more modern, dynamic and attractive. It is also among the significant landscapes around the capital that has become the focus of visitors including foreign tourists.
The Taman's construction has upgraded the river system including Sungai Kedayan, beautifying the surroundings of the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque as well as providing recreation facilities as an attraction for visitors and tourists to Bandar Seri Begawan.
After the morning excursion, His Majesty proceeded to a breakfast with the Prime Minister of Malaysia at Horizons Seafood Restaurant in the capital. The close traditional relations between the two countries in various fields' fields will always be protected and strengthened. The mutually respectful ties have enabled the two countries to further expand long existing fields of cooperation.
