Thailand is aiming to test the market for its products and services during the 9th Thailand Grand Fair that is held concurrently with the 18th Consumer Fair the International Convention Centre (ICC).
H. E. Biravij Suwanpradhes, the Ambassador of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam said yesterday the Governments of Brunei Darussalam and Thailand are hoping that the fairs will provide the platform for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to promote their products "globally".
"Some products (at the Thai fair) are from established companies while others come from the 'One Village, One Product', a concept similar to the one in Brunei. Our aim is to expose these companies and explore overseas market while creating networking opportunities," he said.
He added that some of the vendors are bringing their products for the very first time, offering exclusivity to visitors to the fair that also features bottled coconut drinks which contain health benefits and the king of fruits, durian also known as 'Monthong' in Thai. Visitors can also watch a fruit carving demonstration.
The Thai Grand Fair features more than 30 exhibitors hand-picked by the Department of Agriculture Extension, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand to showcase Thai food and culture.
The department's main tasks are to increase agricultural production capacity while promoting and developing agriculturists in Thailand.
