​Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab-Rahaman this morning graced the Opening of the Domestic Science Exhibition 2018 in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 72nd birthday celebration for the Brunei Muara District. The function organised by the Brunei Darussalam Pertiwi Association took place at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Upon arrival, Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri was greeted by Datin Hajah Dayang Siti Hajar binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, the Co-Chairperson of the function and the Pertiwi Association Committee members.

The function commenced with the reading of surah Al-Fatihah led by Dayang Noraini Yanti binti Haji Hussin, Head of the Muslimah Affairs Section, Mosque Affairs Department.

Datin Hajah Dayang Siti Hajar in her welcoming remarks among other matters said that the skills of women in cooking, handicraft and art of arrangement should not be hobbies only. She added that the exhibition which showcases several demonstrations and promoting selling products are hoped to provide opportunity in the field of economy which can be earned by group of mothers as a source of income for their families.

Her Royal Highness then officiated the opening of the Domestic Science Exhibition 2018. At the function, Her Royal Highness also presented prizes to competition winners, certificates and tokens of appreciation to the exhibition participants. The arrangement of mixed fruits, vegetables and flowers by the Brunei Darussalam Women's Graduates Association won the Women's Group category. The Cup Cake Design for Women's Youth category went to Dayang Siti Noor Rahimah binti Awang Hamid, while Pengiran Hajah Aminah binti Pengiran Damit won the Senior Citizens traditional cake arrangement for engagement ceremonies category.

Her Royal Highness then received a pasambah. To bless the ceremony, doa selamat was read by the Head of the Muslimah Affairs Section, Mosque Affairs Department.

The one day exhibition highlighted the skills of women in a team through participation in registered associations and individual participation in two categories namely women's youth and senior citizens. The exhibition is a manifestation of the existing cooperation, understanding and commitment among women.

The exhibition saw the participation of the society at all levels including various government agencies, private sector, non-government Organisations, youth, senior citizens, Village Consultative Council Women's Bureaus, and representatives from the neighbouring countries. Participation from other countries also enabled them to share experience with the locals. The exhibition also showcased modern and traditional products and handicrafts.

The Domestic Science Exhibition among other things aimed to encourage women to always appreciate and experiment with various modern cooking in accordance to the changing times.
