​The achievements of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute in its 25 years can be the foundation in planning and organising its studies programmes direction that also supports efforts towards realising the Wawasan Brunei 2035. In this regard His Royal Highness Prince (Dr.) Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in a sabda emphasises the importance of the Tahfiz Institute to create studies programmes capable of producing marketable and employable graduates based on a Comprehensive Strategic Plan that can put the institute on the forefront and on par with other educational institutions. His Royal Highness delivered the sabda at the 6th Haflut Takharruj or Convocation Ceremony of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute and the Silver Jubilee or 25 years of the institute's establishment yesterday morning. The event took place at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Upon arrival His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs as the Patron of the Executive Committee of the 6th Hafl Al-Takharruj and Silver Jubilee of the 25 Years of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute's Establishment, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Salim bin haji Besar, the Chief Shar'ie Judge as a member of the Tahfiz Institute's Board, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar; the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and Pengiran Haji Amiruddin bin Pengiran Haji Damit, the Acting Principal of the institute.

Also gracing the ceremony was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah.

A presentation of Surah An-Nazi'at memorisation by Awang Muhammad Yusrun bin Haji Jahari stressed that Kiamat or the Day of Resurrection would definitely take place and everyone would be raised from the grave by Allah the Almighty.

In a welcoming speech, the Minister of Religious Affairs underscored the progress accomplished by the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute from teaching Al-Quran memorisation to the study of Al-Quran Qiraat Knowledge. Yang Berhormat Pehin explained the the 'Aliyah Diploma level Qiraat Study which started in 2010 has produced 88 graduates.  .

In a sabda, His Royal Highness underscored the achievements of the institute were not confined to its core role. In fact every fasting month of Ramadhan the demands for Imam Tarawih or Tarawih prayer leaders at the mosques continues to increase. This year the institute fulfilled a request from Laos to send a student to lead the tarawih prayers in the republic.

Another major achievement is the presence of 24 graduates as teaching stuff at the institute. His Royal Highness hopes more graduates will serve by teaching in the various subjects and areas of expertise at the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute.

The event was further enlivened with a video clip titled, '25 Tahun Kecemerlangan Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah'. The Tahfiz institute as established on the of 1st January 1993 in conjunction with the 46th Birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. 10 years later the institution was placed under the administration of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.  Three years later, the institute was placed under the administration of the Ministry of Religious Affairs by combining into it all the programmes and schemes of the Mabims Al-Quran Studies and Propagation Centre so that its role better suited the professional requirements in the aspects of Al-Quran Studies as well as producing memorisers of Al-Quran.

Awang Muhammad Khairul Anuar bin Haji Ahmad, the Manager of Shari'ah Finance at the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam, AMBD is also one of the memorisers who have passed the 30 Chapters of Al-Quran Tasmie' Tests conducted since 2005. In a special talk titled 'Melestarikan Hafazan Al-Quran: Satu Pengalaman' or 'Safeguarding the Memorisation of Al-Quran' shared his experience and the challenges faced in memorising, revising and preserving or safeguarding the memorisation of Al-Quran. According to Awang Muhammad Khairul Anuar, a Hafiz or memoriser should have a personal method in safeguarding the memorisation of Al-Quran.

His Royal Highness then presented the 'Aliyah Qira'at Diploma to 17 graduates. 9 graduates achieved the Mumtaz or Excellent grade, 3 achieved Jayyid Jiddan or very good, 2 were awarded the Jayyid or good grade while three others were awarded the Maqbul or Pass grade.

The graduates had undergone a four-year 'Aliyah Qiraat Diploma study intended to increase the number of the country's people who are capable of not just memerosing Al-Quran, but are also highly skilled in the knowledge of Al-Quran, especially the Qiraat Al-Quran. The graduates were also exposed to different modules including the Malay Islamic Monarchy, MIB, the Dirasah Islamiah comprising fiqh, interpretation of the hadiths, Arabic and Malay Languages.

Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.

The blessed ceremony was the outcome of continued efforts by the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in elevating the teaching of Al-Quran in the country.
