The Tradition of Islam in Russia's Exhibition

Brunei Darussalam is the first country to hold 'The Tradition of Islam in Russia' Exhibition before it sets off on a tour around the world. The exhibition features over 150 photos dedicated to the architectural heritage, life and traditions of the Russian Muslim community. The exhibition was the major highlight of the visit of the delegation of the Council of Muftis of Russia to Brunei Darussalam. It was officiated yesterday morning by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs. The exhibition took place at the Art Gallery of the Royal Wharf in the capital.
His Excellency Vladlen Stannislavovich Semivolos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Brunei Darussalam in his welcoming speech said Bandar Seri Begawan becomes its first host-city for the exhibition before it sets off on a tour around the world.
Meanwhile, His Excellency Rushan Abbyasov, the First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia said the unique collection of photographic of artwork displayed presents a palette of architectural wonders, lifestyle, traditions and customs of the Ummah in Russia.
Also present were Yang Berhormat (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs. The display divided into eight sections, each representing one of Russia's eight federal districts. With population of more than 25 million muslims, there are 8 thousand mosques at the East Europe country including the world famous Moscow Cathedral Mosque, the Kul Sharif Mosque in Kazan, the Great Mosque of St. Petersburg and the Heart of Chechnya Mosque in Grozny. The exhibition organised by The Council of Muftis of Russia in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Religious Affairs will be held for 2 months. It is open to the public until the 27th of November from 9 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon, and on Friday from 9 to 11:30 in the morning and 2:30 to 5 in the afternoon.
