​His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon received in audience His Excellency Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary Of The Security Council Of The Russian Federation. His Excellency heads the delegation's first visit to Brunei Darussalam to establish bilateral cooperation especially in the security sector and hold a bilateral meeting between the National Security Committee and the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

Accompanying His Excellency at the audience ceremony, which took place at Istana Nurul Iman, were His Excellency Igor Zubov, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation; and His Excellency Vladlen Semivolos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Brunei Darussalam. Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence; Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force; Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; and Retired Lieutenant Colonel Pengiran Haji Muhamad Sazali bin Pengiran Haji Yakob, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office and Director of the Internal Security Department.
