Brunei Darussalam and other ASEAN member countries are on their way towards achieving a more sustainable development. According to the Minister of Development, sustainable development is holistic and allows integration of economy, society and natural resources as Brunei advances towards Wawasan 20-35. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 7th Brunei International Conference on Engineering and Technology, BICET 2018, yesterday morning, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar said sustainable development in engineering and technology allows the country to increase global competitiveness through fusion and deployment of latest technologies to strengthen the oil and gas sector, grow new industries and nurture emerging areas.

Themed "Sustainable Development in Engineering and Technology", the 7th BICET is a platform for the delegates from Brunei Darussalam and the region to share and discuss latest technologies, work together to develop and deploy for sustainable development. The conference was organised by UTB's Institution of Engineering and Technology and sponsored by Petrokon Utama Sendirian Berhad; Brunei Shell Petroleum Company; Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad; Aisha Automation Company; Berakas Power Management Company Sendirian Berhad; Power Transmission Distribution Technology and Insurans Islam TAIB General Takaful.
