KUALA BELAIT

The public, especially Belait District residents now can send recyclable goods or materials such as paper, plastic and aluminium to the Green Depot collection centre in Kuala Belait.

Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Haji Ash'ari, Member of the Legislative Council in a speech at the depot's launch said it is a way to ensure the environment is always clean and green.  Yang Berhormat added the amount of goods sent by each user will be recorded using an online system and the users will be given cash incentives when the amount reaches a specific value.

The facility was launched by Awang Yap Kong Fat, the Deputy Managing Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company.  The centre which is the first of its kind in the country is intended to instil the recycling habit among the community besides reducing the amount of waste disposed.
