At the grand age of 25, British workers’ favourite birthday guest Colin the Caterpillar has finally started dating.

This week, M&S started selling Connie the Caterpillar, Colin’s slightly fruity plus-one.

These two are total relationship goals.

They’ve already been spotted chilling, side by side, on the shelves (when they’re not attending office birthday parties of course).

Connie is an all butter chocolate sponge roll filled with delicious strawberry flavoured buttercream and topped with sugar love hearts. She’s very popular at parties.

She comes with the strapline: ‘She is what she eats’, which slightly unnerved us at first – does she eat her chocolate sponge young? Is Connie a cannibal? – until we realised she just likes eating strawberries.

She also sports pink trainers and a matching pink bow, which is total gender stereotyping we know, but we’re overlooking it because she’s a cake. And that strawberry buttercream is delicious (trust us, we’ve already had a slice and she’s a fresh take on an old classic).

Sources tell us the two met at a mutual friend’s birthday party. Of course.

Until news of his new relationship leaked, Colin had been a committed bachelor, often seen out and about at parties with male celebrities like David Beckham and, um, Boris Johnson.

And then there were the raucous 25th birthday celebrations last September, when Harry the Hedgehog got him completely bladdered on tequila shots.

Also, we still haven’t found out who the mother of his mini rolls is.

But, all that aside, with the arrival of Connie on the scene, it seems our boy is finally growing up.
