GADONG

The propagation of the Islamic Syiar or eminence in the country continues to develop with the increase in the number of new converts. In Brunei Muara District alone, 179 people have embraced Islam since early this year. Yesterday afternoon, an Iban man chose Islam as his new faith at a conversion ceremony that took place at the Police Headquarters Surau in Gadong.

20-year old Wilfred Mark Junior Anak Jamit is now known as Syafiq Afeef bin Abdullah Jamit. Syafiq Afeef is a student at the Institute of Brunei Technical Education, IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus. In attendance was Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali, Acting Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force. The ceremony was conducted by officers from the Islamic Dakwah Centre's Conversion Unit.
