Biolnnovation Corridor to Be Closed in June for Renovation

 June 3rd, 2016  |  11:22 AM  |   1089 views

KG TUNGKU, MUKIM GADONG

The Biolnnovation Corridor in Kampong Tungku will be temporarily closed to visitors effective June 6.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT), the temporarily closure is to allow for further development of the area and focus on raising productivity of agriculture and agrifood activities in generating economic growth.

For the smooth flow of construction work and public safety, the park needs to be closed temporarily. It will only be reopened once further developmental work and maintenance work are completed, and public safety can be guaranteed.

The development of the park as an area of commercial agricultural production is set to double production to target local and export markets.

The sale of flowers and plants at the greenhouse handled by the private sector will continue to operate without interruption.

MPRT apologises for any inconvenience caused by the closure of the park.

Mr Wong, a park visitor, said, "My wife and my three children will definitely miss this place. We like to take a stroll during the evenings. The green environment is good for the children."

He also pointed out that the park is lacking maintenance with overgrown grass.

The establishment of Biolnnovation Corridor or formerly known as Brunei Agrotechnology Park is dedicated to research, processing and logistics to support the development of the Brunei Halal brand and promote tourism.

It is expected to benefit the country in many different areas particularly in advancing investment opportunities.

The park was open in October 2013, attracting huge number of visitors both local and foreign.
