BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The construction project of a new mosque in Kampung Bukit Panggal in the Tutong District is expected to be completed by this January. The mosque's construction is the second one to use the budget allocation from the Brunei Darussalam Mosque Construction Fund following the construction of Ar-Rahman Mosque in Kampung Tanjong Bunut. In taking a closer look at the new mosque's construction progress, yesterday morning the Minister of Religious Affairs made a working visit to the construction site.

During the visit, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, was briefed on the progress of the mosque's construction by Awang Haji Muazzam Bin Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti, an architect from the Public Works Department. The mosque is built on 5-acres of land costing three million dollars. Once completed, the mosque will be able to accommodate up to 800 congregants. Apart from the main male and female prayer halls, the mosque is also equipped with a lecture room, library and info-technology room and burial management room. Also taking part in the visit, were Awang Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of religious Affairs and Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop, Acting Secretary of the Brunei Islamic religious Council.
