​In welcoming the New Year 2019, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam calls on the country's citizens and residents to further strengthen their determination and effort to become a community with integrity which is more proactive and productive in facing future challenges. In In the titah broadcast to the nation by Radio Television Brunei earlier tonight, the Monarch also highlights the goal of achieving self-sufficiency in agricultural output. On this matter, His Majesty expresses the hope that all the relevant parties in the government will strive to accomplish it with any excuse that could delay it.

On the economy, His Majesty says the projection is for much better growth in 2019. However, His Majesty warns the country should not be complacent and satisfied easily because there are still many challenges to face. Among the main ones today is the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
