The annual bilateral meeting between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore had resulted in many fruitful discussions on national, regional and international level of security and transnational matters. Highlighting the matters, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Pengiran Haji Muhammad Sazali bin Pengiran Haji Yakob, Permanent Secretary (for Security and Enforcement) at the Prime Minister's Office said through the annual meeting, both countries have developed a joint training and exchange program where senior officers of both countries learn from each other and get to know best practices on how each country handles and tackles crime and its related activities. The Permanent Secretary was speaking at the 4th Bilateral Meeting between Security and Enforcement Agencies of Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Singapore yesterday morning.

The Permanent Secretary said this will benefit both countries in the long run especially for security and enforcement where in the future there will be more close collaboration between both countries as crime become more complex and dynamic.  He added Brunei Darussalam and Singapore almost had the same type of dynamics security elements and threats and it is imperative that as small nations in this region that we work together and cooperate closely with one another to various mechanisms.

Meanwhile, at 3rd Bilateral Meeting between Ministry of Home Affairs Brunei Darussalam and Ministry of Home Affairs Republic of Singapore, Awang Ajman bin Haji Meludin, the Acting Permanent Secretary (Safety, Welfare and Law) at the Ministry of Home Affairs in his opening remarks expressed appreciation on the strong and friendly bilateral relation between both ministries.  The Acting Permanent Secretary said believed yesterday meeting was among the major initiative to build on and strengthen the already strong relationship that both parties have and hopefully they could  leverage further for the future and share experiences to build strong bonds not only professionally but also personal ones.

His Excellency Pang Kin Keong, the Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Singapore in his remarks touched on a number of areas that both countries could work closely together including cooperation on Disaster Management.  The bilateral meeting was Co-Chaired by the Permanent Secretary (Security and Enforcement) at the Prime Minister's Office; the Acting Permanent Secretary (Safety, Welfare and Law) at the Ministry of Home Affairs AND the Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Singapore.  Also attending the meeting were Heads of Department and senior officers from security and enforcement agencies of the two countries.  The meeting serves as a platform for exchange of information as well as sharing the best practices and exploring training opportunities in the related areas.
