BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

141 youths nationwide are taking part in the 22nd Youth Tilawah Al-Quran Scheme, or STAR for this year. The registration for the new students took place yesterday morning at all districts. The scheme is hoped to produce youths who have the potential in Tarannum or melodic reading of Al-Quran.

In the Brunei Muara District, 123 students registered for the scheme at the Beribi religious School.  Four students registered at the Pengiran Anak Puteri Norain Religious School, STAR centre for the Tutong District.  Seven students registered at the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Religious School in Seria, Belait District and another 7 new students registered at the Temburong Arabic School in the Temburong District.

The learning session will take place every Friday and Sunday from 8 to 10 in the morning.  The scheme is hoped to produce youth Quran readers who have the potential to succeed at the national level.  The scheme also provides opportunity for the muslim community to remain close to the Al-Quran.
