Islamic eminence in the country continues to grow with further increase in the number of new converts. This is evident when more non-Muslims choose Islam as their way of life.
From January until February this year, 88 people embraced Islam throughout the country.
A Chinese family declared their allegiance to Islam with the kalimah syahadah, abandoning their former conviction.
The head of the family, forty-four-year-old Yii Hung Hung chose Awg Muhammad Firdaus Abdullah Yii as his Islamic name.
His wife, Gui Ai Geok, 43, chose to rename herself as Dyg Nur Faaeqa Fatinah Abdullah Gui. Their five children had also chosen their Islamic names respectively.
Meanwhile, a Philippine national has also embraced Islam. 30-year-old Loida Flores Sanchez is now known as Dyg Myiesha Khalida Abdullah Sanchez. The conversion ceremony was conducted by officers from the Islamic Dakwah Centre.
Among those present was Awang Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Kahar, the Acting Director of Islamic Dakwah Centre.
According to Awangku Haji Ali Hasan bin Haji Mohamad Said, Head of the Dakwah Propagation Section, Islamic Dakwah Centre, for the new Muslim converts, the Converts Development Section will provide religious guidance at the Centre.
