Visit to New Arabic School Building

 January 30th, 2019  |  08:52 AM  |   495 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

His Majesty's visit to the Rimba Arabic School reflects His Majesty's deep concern and attention towards the learning process at Arabic schools which His Majesty regards as the greatest because of its unique position.

His Majesty first inspected the facilities of the Multi-purpose Hall.  The construction of Rimba Arabic School is among the major projects of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam under the 10th National Development Plan conducted by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.  Costing more than 48 million dollars, it stands on a 20 hectares site with complete infrastructure that fulfils the needs of teaching and learning.

His Majesty also interacted with the students.  The newly used school began its schooling session on 2nd January this year with almost one thousand and seven hundred students.  Rimba Arabic School is led by Pengiran Hajah Radiah binti Pengiran Haji Md Tahir, the School Principal and has 152 teachers and 16 staff members.

The cleanliness of the school canteen also attracted His Majesty's attention.  Apart from the canteen, the school is also equipped with a Science and Language Laboratory, Library and hostel.

The school only has male students from Sanah or Year 5 to 11.  The students were previously from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Religious Arabic Secondary School at Jalan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha and this year, Rimba Arabic School received 293 Year 5 male students.

Also attracting His Majesty's attention were the railings on the school building which according to His Majesty, were unsafe.

The school has 72 classrooms.  Its learning session is from half past seven in the morning until three in the afternoon.  Religious and Arabic Schooling is part of the National Education System for the 21st Century, SPN 21.

The closed door session with the school teachers ended His Majesty's tour.  Doa selamat was read by Haji Norhisyam bin Haji MD Noor, the Deputy Head of School Administration.

Before His Majesty left the Rimba Arabic School, doa selamat was read by Awang Ahmad Nasyaruddin bin Abdul Rahim, a Year 11 student.

His Majesty continued the visit with a tour of the site for the new Lambak Religious School in Jalan Bedil.

The construction of the new religious school was to replace the Lambak Jalan Bedil Religious School that has been used since February 1980. The new building was completed in 2016.
