His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Crown Prince, Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and General of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) yesterday morning received in audience General Sir Gordon Messenger, KCB, DSO, OBE, ADC, Vice Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom. The audience ceremony was held at the Qashr Al-Meezan.

Accompanying General Sir Gordon Messenger were His Excellency Richard Lindsay, British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam; and Colonel Mike Page, British Defence Advisor to Brunei Darussalam. Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence, and Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). The defence relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom encompasses a wide range of interactions including exchange of visits, defence and military meetings, military exercises, trainings, and courses. The visit from General Sir Gordon Messenger reflects the commitment in further strengthening the relationship and cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom.
