The citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam comprising various races and ethnicities possess a variety of cultures and traditions. The harmonious relation fostered is the main pillar and vital element that need to be given attention as strong and friendly ethnic relations among the community can ensure economic and social relations stability in the country. The communities in the country is also enlivening the Chinese New Year celebration celebrated by the Chinese community which usually holds gatherings with families, neighbours and friends. Similar to the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, the Chinese New Year celebration is also enlivened with open house visits.

Among those holding open houses was Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin. The guests included Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs and Yang Berhormat, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism.
