A bus carrying 25 Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students landed on its side while going downhill at the university compound yesterday.
The bus, believed from a private company and was said to be ferrying the mostly female students, was going downhill when the driver lost control of the wheel due to alleged brake malfunction around 4.40pm.
State Fire and Rescue Department officer Jamaludin Hussin said no untoward incident was reported. Some of the students only sustained minor bruises.
The students, including the bus driver and conductor, have been taken to the hospital for outpatient treatment, he said yesterday.
Jamaludin added based on initial investigation, the incident was believed caused by a malfunction in the brakes when the bus was going downhill.
He said the operation, which involved the Sabah Civil Defence Department, ended around 5pm after all the passengers in the bus were taken to the hospital.
