Official Opening Ceremony Of First Meeting Of 15th Legislative Council

The Opening Ceremony of the First Meeting of the 15th Legislative Council commenced with full tradition at the Dewan Majlis Building in Jalan Dewan Majlis.
Upon arrival, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, the Speaker of the Legislative Council.
Shortly after arrival, His Majesty received the royal salute mounted by 108 personnel of the Royal Brunei Police Force led by Superintendent Haji Azree bin Haji Abdul Manaf, Parade Commanding Officer.
Also present were His Majesty's son and brothers; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office as Ex-Officio Member; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah.
This year's Legislative Council Meeting is the 15th since it was first re-established in 2004. Within that period, numerous deliberations and proposals have resulted in outcomes such as dedicated efforts towards a progressive nation in various aspects among them economic development, educated and skilled citizens as well as high quality of life.
His Majesty's arrival at Dewan Persidangan, Dewan Majlis was accompanied by the procession bringing in the Ceremonial Mace of the Legislative Council.
Apart from deliberating on the Supply Bill 2019/2020, the meeting will also deliberate on two formal proposals that have been given notice as well questions that have been given notice. 44 questions that have been given notice covering Ministries and departments under it will be deliberated on.
Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
As a discussion platform to highlight constructive ideas to generate development and progress, this year's Legislative Council meeting is expected to be able to create development strategies for the interest of the nation and the people, especially in realising the Wawasan Negara 2035.
