Condolences Message to the Prime Minister of New Zealand

The First Meeting of the 15th Legislative Council Session convenes on its ninth day today, expressed their deep sadness on the attacks at the Linwood mosque and An-Noor mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, that led to the death of about 50 congregants last Friday, 15th of March. This was expressed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs on behalf of the Legislative Council in response to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's message of condolences to Her Excellency the Right Honourable Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, following the incidents.
Yang Berhormat said the Legislative Council also expressed their deepest sympathy to the victim's families and pray to Allah S.W.T to place them among the Syuhada and Sallehin. The Council believed on the diligent efforts of New Zealand's government in restoring the situation and assure the New Zealand citizens specifically Muslims that they can enjoy peace and safety.
In remembrance of the victims, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council requested Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs to lead the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and the Council held a moment of silence for 2 minutes.
