National Budget 2019-2020 Of $5.86 Billion Approved

​Before adjourning yesterday afternoon's session, the Council approved the national budget of 5.86 billion dollars for the financial year 2019/2020, which will take into effect on 1st of April 2019.

 

 The national budget allocation proposed by the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy was unanimously approved by the members of the legislative council. The Bill to supply the amount is from the Collection of Monies of the Consolidated Fund for the Financial Year 2019/2020 services and to allocate the money for certain purposes, is now known as the Supply Bill 2019/2020. From the amount, a part of it will be allocated for financial services and certain purposes for the 13 ministries and departments under it during the Financial Year 2019/2020, with a sum of 800 million dollars from the amount allocated for the development budget.
