Brunei Darussalam will observe the Israk Mikraj celebration today, with the National Level event to be held at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre in Berakas in the morning. The rehearsal to ensure the smooth running of the national level event yesterday morning.

Present were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Yang Di-Pertua Of Adat Istiadat Negara; Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, as the Chairman of the Executive Committee for Major Islamic Events Celebrations 1440 Hijrah; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; and Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs. The theme of this year's Israk Mikraj celebration is 'Sembahyang Membentuk Umat Bertaqwa' or Prayer Shapes a Pious Ummah.

The Acting Director of Islamic Studies, as the Co-Secretary of the National Level Israk Mikraj Celebration 1440 Hijrah Working Committee, explained that this year's celebration among other matters will be highlighted with a performance on Exemplary stories in Islam. Awang Haji Shamsol bin Omar added that the performance entitled 'kasih ilahi' or Allah's Love will be acted out by students from the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Secondary Arabic Religious School.
