In commemorating the Isra' Mi'raj event, the Ministry of Development held the Al-Quran Reading Musabaqah for the Ministry of Development and its departments this morning. The function was jointly-organised by the Administration and Finance Department and Mechanical and Electrical Services Department, Public Works Department.

In attendance was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaimi Bin Haji Gafar, Minister of Development. 3 qari or male readers and 3 qariah or female readers qualified for the final round.

The function was enlivened with a talk titled 'The Role of Prayer in Shaping a Complete Human Being', delivered by Doctor Haji Harapandi Dahri, Director of the Ahli Sunnah Waljama'ah Understanding Research Centre, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU-SB. The talk among other things highlighted that prayer can shape a pious individual towards becoming a complete human being. Apart from that, prayer can make a person's heart calm.

This was followed with prizes presentation by the Minister of Development to the winners of the Al-Quran Reading Musabaqah, Awang Haji Muhamad Khairul Hafizuddin bin Haji Shamsudin from the Survey Department and Dayang Ratinah binti Hidup who is also from the Survey Department. Also present was Awang Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Development.
