The Arrival of the Honourable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh

​Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, the Honourable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and delegation arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday afternoon for a three-day Official Visit to Brunei Darussalam. Present at Brunei International Airport to welcome Her Excellency was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah,

 

ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office as personal representative of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

 

Also present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism as the Minister-in-Attendance; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

 

Also present were His Excellency Awang Haji Haris bin Othman, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the People's Republic of Bangladesh; and His Excellency Air Vice Marshal (Retired) Mahmud Hussain, High Commissioner of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam.

 

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness, together with Her Excellency proceeded to a Special Dais to receive the Salute of Honour, which was followed by the national anthems of both countries.

 

Her Excellency then inspected the Guard of Honour mounted by personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

 

Her Excellency was then introduced to the Cabinet Ministers; Deputy Ministers; the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force; the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; and ASEAN Foreign Envoys in Brunei Darussalam; as well as Permanent Secretaries at the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

His Royal Highness was also introduced to members of the delegation of Her Excellency the Honourable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of Bangladesh were established on 5th May 1984. Since then, the two countries have been cooperating extensively in various fields including education, trade, investment and agriculture.
