Audience Ceremony With Prime Minister Of The People's Republic Of Bangladesh

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning received in audience Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Honourable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The Audience Ceremony took place at Cheradi Laila Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman. Henry Ramanair has the report.

 

His Majesty welcomed Her Excellency Honourable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh on arrival at Istana Nurul Iman, and subsequently introduced Her Excellency to members of the Royal Family.

 

 Also present were His Majesty's sons, brothers and sister,

 

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office;

 

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;

 

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen;

 

- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;

 

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; and

 

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

 

 

Accompanying Her Excellency Honourable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh were:

 

- His Excellency Mr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, Honourable Minister for Agriculture;

 

- His Excellency A.K. Abdul Momen, Honourable Foreign Minister;

 

- His Excellency Mr. Salman Fazlur Rahman, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister;

 

- His Excellency Mr. Imran Ahmad, Honourable State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment;

 

- His Excellency Mr. Md. Zahid Ahsan Russel, Honourable State Minister for Youth and Sports;

 

- His Excellency Mr. Nasrul Hamid, Honourable Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources;

 

- His Excellency Mr. Md. Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, Honourable State Minister for Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock; AND

 

- His Excellency Mr. K.M Khalid, Honourable State Minister for Cultural Affairs.

 

 Also present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism as the Minister-in-Attendance; and His Excellency Awang Haji Haris bin Othman, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

 

 After the Audience Ceremony, His Majesty held a Bilateral Meeting with Her Excellency Honourable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, which was held at Baitul Mesyuarah. Also present was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince. His Majesty in the titah expresses congratulations to Her Excellency on the recent election victory, which signifies the strong support and confidence of the people of Bangladesh in Her Excellency's vision for the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

 

Her Excellency in her speech among others highlighted that the great importance of relations between the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Brunei Darussalam is founded on shared value. Her Excellency hoped both sides will deepen the cooperation.

 

 After the Bilateral Meeting, His Majesty, together with Her Excellency, witnessed the Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of His Majesty and the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific and Technical Cooperation in the field of Agriculture was signed by the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, on behalf of His Majesty's government. While Honourable Minister for Agriculture signed for the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

 

 The Memorandum of Understanding on the Cooperation in the field of fisheries. Signing on behalf of the Government of His Majesty was the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism; while signing on behalf of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was Honourable State Minister for Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.

 

 Signing the Memorandum of Understanding on the Cooperation in the field of Livestock on behalf of the Government of His Majesty was the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, and Honourable State Minister for Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock for the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

 

 The Memorandum of Understanding on the field of Cooperation in the Supply of Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG was signed by YangBerhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md. Hussein, Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry for His Majesty's government; while Honourable Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources for the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

 

 The next MoU was the Memorandum of Understanding on the Cooperation in the field of Youth and Sports. Signing on behalf of His Majesty's Government Yang Berhormat (retired) Major General  Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; while signing on behalf of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was His Honourable State Minister for Youth and Sports.

 

Meanwhile, the Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural and Arts Cooperation were signed by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, on behalf of His Majesty's government and Honourable State Minister for Cultural Affairs for the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Also present to witness the Signing Ceremony was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince.

 

Her Excellency Honourable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and delegation are in the country on a three-day Official Visit. Her Excellency's visit is in line with the 35th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries. During the bilateral meeting, Her Excellency expressed sincere gratitude to His Majesty for extending the invitation to visit Brunei Darussalam.
