His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon received in separate audiences the Assistant Minister for Utilities (Rural Electrification) of Sarawak and the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan. The audience ceremonies took place at Istana Nurul Iman. His Majesty first received in audience Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr. Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Junaidi, Assistant Minister for Utilities (Rural Electrification) of Sarawak as the Minister in charge of Sarawak's Religious Affairs.

 

Joining the delegation were Yang Berbahagia Datu Haji Misnu bin Haji Taha, Chief of Sarawak Islamic Council; Sahibus Samahah Datu Haji Kipli bin Haji Yassin, Sarawak State Mufti; Yang Berbahagia Datu Abang Haji Mohd Shibli bin Haji Abang Mohd Nailie, General Manager of Baitulmal Fund of Sarawak and Yang Amat Arif Tuan Haji Awang Suhaili bin Ledi, Syarie Chief Judge, Sarawak Syariah Judiciary Department. Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, State Mufti; Yang Amat Arif Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, Chief Syarie Judge; and Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.

 

His Majesty then received in audience His Excellency Kentaro Sonoura, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan. Accompanying His Excellency were His Excellency Motohiko Kato, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam; and Mr. Shingo Miyamoto, Director, Second Southwest Asia Division, Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan. Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Second Minister of Defence as Chairman of the National Security Committee; Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force and Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
