His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a Titah says cooperation in various fields between Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of Bangladesh have further strengthened bilateral relations between the two countries.  His Majesty delivered the Titah during the Official Banquet in honour of Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Honourable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and delegation who are on an Official Visit to the country. The Official Banquet took place at Istana Nurul Iman last night.

Prior to the banquet, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam received in audience Her Excellency Honourable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Present at the Official Banquet were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi'atul 'adawiyyah; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.

Her Excellency's delegation included His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, Honourable Minister for Agriculture; His Excellency A.K. Abdul Momen, Honourable Foreign Minister; and His Excellency Mr. Salman Fazlur Rahman, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister. Also in attendance were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism as the Minister-in-Attendance, and Datin.

The Official Banquet began with the recitation of Doa Selamat by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr.) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in his titah hails the official visit of the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh as marking a significant milestone in bilateral ties which began 35 years ago when the two countries established diplomatic relations.

Touching on international relations, His Majesty says Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of Bangladesh will continue to cooperate closely in regional and international forums including ASEAN, OIC, NAM and the United Nations.

In the reciprocal address, Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh touches on the excellent relationship between the two countries which is solidly founded on shared values, religion, cultural linkage and many commonalities. Her Excellency also outlined her country's initiatives in generating the economy and investments.

Her Excellency also highlights several fields which have been identified for collaboration between the two countries.

In a Joint Statement, both leaders expressed satisfaction on the friendly and long-standing relations between their two countries. The two leaders highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in various fields and bringing the relations to a new level for mutual benefits. The Leaders recognised the potential for investments and will encourage the promotion of reciprocal investments between the two countries in their mutual interest, particularly in sectors such as food processing, energy and ICT.
