BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Community Based Tourism is among the main potentials in helping to ensure the country's tourism products and industry will be more sustainable. A big part of tourism products and attractions in the country is based on eco-tourism, culture and heritage. The Deputy Permanent Secretary For Tourism at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism said the Cultural and National Heritage Tourism mentioned is based on the country's ethnic groups and village communities which have their own uniqueness to be showcased in Community Based Tourism. The matter was highlighted yesterday morning by Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali during the opening of the Community Based Tourism Workshop. Awang Wardi added the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism through the Tourism Development Department will continue to develop new tourism products to be promoted. Among new products to be promoted this year is the Community Based Tourism which will be carried out in phases according to priority.

70 participants representing Mukim and Village Consultative Councils are attending the workshop.   The workshop is aimed to share ASEAN standardisation for community services such as the homestay and community based tourism activities. During the workshop, the participants are briefed on measures and approaches for the One Village One Product project and share experiences and the best practices from local community based tourists who won ASEAN Community-Based Tourism awards in Vietnam in January this year.
