DARe Hold Dialogue Session on Halal Industry

To assist aspiring entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on the nitty-gritty of Halal industry, Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) held its third dialogue session last night at the Design and Technology Building, Anggerek Desa.
Present during the event were Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Awang Adi Shamsul bin Haji Sabli, Permanent Secretary (Industry) at the Prime Minister's Office.
The event began with a presentation, led by Dayangku Hajah Siti Normardinah binti Pengiran Haji Omarali from DARe, to introduce the initiatives taken by DARe as well as to share the upcoming events it will be holding.

This was followed by a presentation by Awangku Mohd Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Ali Hassan from the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Unit, Prime Minister's Office, in which he shared the efforts of EODB in improving Brunei's business environment.
The main presentation during the session focussed on the process of applying for Halal certification for restaurants and food factories; Halal accreditation for overseas slaughter centres; importation of Halal meat to Brunei Darussalam; and Halal certification and slaughtering certification for local slaughter houses. It was delivered by Awang Haji Mohd Hadilah bin Haji Abdul Manaf, Scientific Officer at the Halal Food Control Division (BKMH), Ministry of Religious Affairs.
This was followed by a question-and-answer session with Awang Haji Mohd Hadilah, where attendees of the session made several inquiries and shared their views on certain issues faced by the Halal industry. Apart from members of the public, the audience also included business operators from the food and beverage sector.
The dialogue session served as a platform for those running Halal-related businesses to share their experiences and those interested in knowing more about the regulations related to the Halal industry as well as prospective entrepreneurs to meet with successful players in the industry.
