The Federation of Brunei Malay Entrepreneurs (PPPMB) received a courtesy visit from Minister Counsellor for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Eko Himawan. The visit took place on March 10 earlier this year.

The introductory visit served to bolster ties between PPPMB and the newly appointed Minister Counsellor for Economic Affairs, thus strengthening the already established bilateral relations between the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Brunei Darussalam and the Federation respectively.

During the session, Eko Himawan noted the significance of promoting cooperation in trade and businesses among entrepreneurs between the two countries. Also discussed was the proposed ideas of transforming the Sultanate into an 'Islamic tourism' destination, which had the potential to gain mainstream popularity among Indonesian nationals seeking to explore and experience religious livelihood in compliance with the Syariah Law.

Hosted by its President, Dr Hj Abd Latif Hj Chuchu, further discussions revolved around promoting investments between Brunei and Indonesia. Both parties agreed that such an initiative was in line with helping the growth of BIMP-EAGA across the region.

Additionally, PPPMB had pledged to close the communication gap between the Republic and the Sultanate by improving aviation transportation and logistics, thus bringing the two Muslim nations closer together on several levels including cultural and traditional values.
