Rimba Start FT Lost to Tabuan Under-17

BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA

Tabuan Under-17 secured a second successive victory on the bounce to go joint top at the Brunei DST Premier League after a narrow 1-0 win against Rimba Star FT at the Berakas Sports Complex yesterday.

The result helps bring Tabuan Under-17 two points clear off Setia Perdana with six but the latter do play a game less in the early rounds of the league.

The junior national team, whose overall objective in their league involvement differs from the rest of the teams with enhancing the team's competitiveness a top priority in preparation for international tournaments, were clearly in jovial mood and plastered in smiles when the customary team photo session was taken.

But not to be fooled with their friendly demeanour, the young squad under the tutelage of All Mustafa demonstrated their decisive and lethal nature in which the embattled Rimba-based side could testify as Abdul Hariz Herman scored the match winner in the 77th minute.

Meanwhile, league debutante Al Idrus Junior FT continued their flying start to the season after beating Panchor Murai 3-2 in an enthralling encounter at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.

Al Idrus Junior forward Adie Arsham Muhd Salleh played a starring role for the newcomers after notching his second and third league goals of the campaign in the 33rd and 42th minute.

Al Idrus' Md Syazwi Mohin scored his second league goal in the 15th minute before Sahrul Haji Sabatu temporarily levelled the scores.

Panchor Murai's top scorer Ahmad Asyraf Md Saudian pulled one back but Al Idrus held on to join Tabuan Under-17 at the top of the table.

After a fine run at Brunei second-tier competition last season, Panchor Murai have found to be struggling at the bottom of the division without a win in three games this term.

The Mukim Pengkalan Batu based side only lost two games last year en-route to finishing fourth in their debut season.
