The new "secret conversations" feature means chats should be secure between two people.
Facebook has begun testing end-to-end encryption in Facebook Messenger. Conversations will not be encrypted by default. A user would have to opt-in to the mode called "secret conversations." When in secret conversation mode, only two devices have access to the conversation -- the device of the sender and the device of the recipient. Secret conversations cannot be continued from another device.
