Nazri: Motion to Expel Dissidents at Next Umno Supreme Council Meet

 April 3rd, 2016  |  07:17 AM  |   4360 views

KUALA KANGSAR, MALAYSIA

A motion to expel Umno leaders involved in the Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad-led citizen's declaration will be tabled at the party's next supreme council meeting, says Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz (pic).

Nazri, a supreme council member, said this was necessary as actions of the leaders concerned were against party regulations.

He said those who attended the signing or signed the declaration to oust the party president faced expulsion from the party.

"All procedures will be observed by the party, first by sending show cause letters to them," he told reporters after a meeting with village heads and Umno leaders at the Kuala Kangsar Mara Junior Science College here Saturday.

Mohamed Nazri said he believed that reports on the leaders concerned had been submitted to the party's disciplinary committee.

It was reported that a few Umno leaders, including Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, signed the declaration.
