In conjunction with its 64 years of establishment, the Information Department yesterday held a Tahlil ceremony for the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, at the Royal Mausoleum in Batu Satu.

The congregation was led by the Acting Director of Information, Awang Mawardi bin Haji Mohammad.

The event began with a recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil led by Imam Awang Haji Nasrul Hazimin bin Haji Sapar, the Imam of Kampong Bengkurong Mosque.

The Information Department was established on April 1, 1952, and it is moving forward in line with the department's mission to maintain the image of the monarch, nation and government through the dissemination of information that is fast, accurate and authoritative, as well as to become a platform for two-way communication between the government and citizens in support of the nation's philosophy, aspirations and goals by disseminating information through print, digital communication and new media.
