Six foreigners were arrested and taken to the Law Enforcement Division, Department of Immigration and National Registration for further investigation, as they are believed to have committed offences under the Immigration Act, Chapter 17.
The offences were discovered during Operasi Panyap 2025 which targeted rental rooms in Mukim Gadong 'B' and Berakas 'A'. All of them are believed to have committed the offence of overstaying in the country after their immigration passes had expired. Three of them are also believed to be working for a different employer.
Meanwhile, a Bangladeshi man was sentenced to 7 months imprisonment and 3 strokes of whipping after pleading guilty to overstaying in the country after his immigration pass had expired. The sentence for Mohammed Shipon, aged 38, took effect on the 6th of November 2025.
