The International Women’s Club Brunei (IWC) celebrated its 38th anniversary with a high tea at a hotel, attended by more than 100 members, former members, ambassadors, members of the Diplomatic Corps, guests and friends of the club.
In her welcoming remarks, IWC President Ungku Datin Hajah Fanzah Osman reflected on the club’s 38-year journey and the values of friendship, understanding, service and togetherness that have remained at the heart of the organisation.
As the club’s founder and president since its establishment, Ungku Datin Hajah Fanzah recalled her vision of creating a place where women from different countries and backgrounds could meet, learn from one another and, most importantly, feel a sense of belonging.
For many women who have made Brunei Darussalam their home, whether temporarily or permanently, the IWC has become more than a social club, providing a platform to build friendships, learn about different cultures and become part of a wider community.
Its diverse membership has helped foster cross-cultural understanding and friendship among women from Brunei Darussalam and the international community.
Part of a wider tradition of international women’s clubs around the world, IWC Brunei also remains committed to charitable and community initiatives. Over the years, generations of members have contributed their time, energy and compassion to meaningful causes while strengthening bonds of friendship within the club.
The celebration also provided an opportunity to remember those who helped build and sustain the club over the years, including members and friends who are no longer part of the organisation but whose contributions and memories remain part of its history. – James Kon
