"Bekarih, Bejarih, Belurih", is the theme of the 14th ASEAN Schools Games, ASG, which will take place from 20th to 28th November. The theme is an adaptation from Bruneian words that reflect the values of diligence, perseverance and hard work. Eight sports events will be competed namely Badminton, Basketball, Athletics, Swimming, Netball, Pencak Silat, Sepak Takraw and Wushu.
The pencak silat event will be held at the Youth Centre, Bandar Seri Begawan. Sepak Takraw will take place at the Multipurpose Hall of Rimba Dua Secondary School, while Badminton will be at the Sports Hall of Sports School. The Indoor Stadium of Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex will be the venue for Basketball, while the Multipurpose Hall of Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex is for Netball. The Athletics events will be held at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium. The swimming event will be at the National Swimming Pool, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex. While Wushu will take place at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Sports Complex.
ASG14 is not just a championship, but acts as a platform to produce potential athletes, as well as foster the values of discipline, cooperation and sportsmanship among students. In ensuring that the championship is always under control according to the set Standard Operating Procedures, the organisers have worked closely with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Health as well as Sports Associations.
