Employment Agencies Order, 2004

A local woman and a licensed employment agency owner pleaded guilty to charges under the Employment Agencies Order, 2004 for operating an employment agency without a license, and lending the employment agency licence to an unlicenced individual.

 

Norashikah Bte Abdullah@Chong Moi Lang pleaded guilty to operating employment agency activities between March to May 2024 without a valid licence issued by the Commissioner of Labour. Norashikah was fined $1,000 or one month imprisonment in default.

 

Meanwhile, Hajah Norhayati Binti Abdullah@Margie Lyn Acto Vicente, owner of the Nur Berjaya Employment Agency, pleaded guilty to lending her employment agency licence to Norashikah during the same period, enabling her to recruit foreign workers illegally. Hajah Norhayati was fined $2,000 dollars or 2 months imprisonment in default.
