The Temburong New Converts Association (PESAT) will have a dedicated shared space for its activities and community programmes following the handing over of the keys to a government building by the Temburong District Office to the association yesterday.
The handover was facilitated through Project TERAS (Temburong Empowerment through Resource, Activities and Sustainability), a Community Outreach Project undertaken by participants of the Executive Development Programme for Middle Management Officials (EDPMMO) Cohort 37 under the Civil Service Institute. The project is implemented in collaboration with PESAT and the Temburong District Office.
The dedicated space is intended to support PESAT in conducting religious and learning classes, welfare and community activities, skills development and member engagement. The project also places emphasis on sustainability by establishing the building as a platform that PESAT can continue to use and manage after Team TERAS’s direct involvement has concluded.
The key to the building was handed over by the Acting Temburong District Officer Hassan Baha bin Haji Umar to Acting President of PESAT Nurul ‘Ain binti Mohd Redzuan.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir, who is also Village Head of Kampong Labu Estate and Piasau-Piasau, Temburong District, with Acting Director of the Islamic Da’wah Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs Pengiran Hajah Haslina Suriani binti Pengiran Haji Piut, officers from the Temburong District Office; PESAT representatives; and members of Team TERAS were also present.
Following the key handover, Team TERAS, PESAT and project partners will undertake a memucang-mucang community activity to clean and prepare the building for community use.
