Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah, President of the Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam (PPPBD), yesterday graced the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association’s Peace Day Celebration, held in conjunction with International Day of Peace as one of the association’s annual activities.
This year’s celebration themed ‘Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day’ aims to commemorate and celebrate Peace Day 2026 as well as to recognise the achievements and talents of association members in skills, activities and competitions organised by the association and to foster and strengthen goodwill, camaraderie and ties among association members.
Upon arrival, Her Royal Highness was greeted by Lifetime Vice-Presidents of the PPPBD Datin Paduka Hajah Zaharah binti Haji Idris and Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohd Ali, Vice-President of the PPPBD Hajah Viviyanti binti Haji Md Ali, as well as Chief Commissioner of the PPPBD Norazrina binti Haji Sarbini. The celebration began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Spiritual Commissioner of the PPPBD Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Abd Ghani.
This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem of Brunei Darussalam, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) Song, and the Asia Pacific Region Song.
The celebration continued with presentations by five finalists of the PPPBD’s Peace Day Speech Competition 2026, representing the final round of the Brownies category as well as the Girl Guides and Ranger Guides category.
For the brownies category, Dayangku Nur Aisyah binti Pengiran Muhd Redzuan emerged as the champion followed by Nur Arianna Alya Batrisya binti Aiman in second place.
Nur Awadah Syifa binti Asmali won first place in the Girl Guides and Ranger Girl Guides Category.
Second place went to Dayangku Nuradreena Aqilah binti Pengiran Idris and third place went to Ra’eesa Khayla binti Haji Mushiri Zulkhibri.
The Peace Day celebration also featured the launch ceremony of the official sports attire of the PPPBD.
Her Royal Highness officiated the launch by signing a canvas featuring the association’s official sports attire.
The celebration proceeded with the presentation of prizes and certificates to the winners and participants of the PPPBD’s World Thinking Day Badge Design Competition 2026, held from March 14 to April 1, 2026.
A total of 61 members from the Brownies, Girl Guides, Ranger Guides and Young Leaders categories took part in the competition.
First place was won by Nurul Matin binti Haji Muhammad Saruddin of Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School, followed by Nur Syafiqah Padilla binti Syamsudin of Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School in second place, while third place went to Dayangku Nur’ Ain Alisha Zaharah binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Sofian of Sekolah Ugama Arab Menengah Perempuan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha.
Her Royal Highness presented prizes to the winners of the speech competition.
The Peace Day celebration concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat.
